Lauren’s story

Lauren, from North Yorkshire, used to smoke 20 cigarettes a day but has been smoke-free for 6 weeks (as of August 2020)

I used to smoke 20 cigarettes per day. When I found out I was pregnant I cut right down but struggled to quit completely.

My midwife put me in touch with Living Well Smokefree, and I used the 14mg nicotine patches as well as the nicotine-replacement chewing gum. They have been fantastic.

I now don't really think about smoking at all. I am really happy with the service. Emily, my advisor, has been fantastic and really easy to contact.

After my partner went back to work after being furloughed I struggled a bit. I contacted Emily, we decided to increase my patches back to 14mg and I tried an inhalator, within two days I had a new voucher to be collected from the pharmacy.

I am really happy with the service and would highly recommend.

I wanted to give up permanently not just during pregnancy and I feel like the service has really helped me to do that so thank you!

Vicky’s Story

Vicky, 39, from Hull, used to smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day but has now been smoke-free for four weeks (as of July 2020).

Vicky was at college when she first started smoking. It wasn’t something she thought much about initially, but all of her friends smoked and she soon got caught up with the crowd. Once hooked, it became a habit for her, and she was soon smoking up to 10 cigarettes a day, which increased as she got older.
